What is Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP)

Scalp Micropigmentation )SMP) was developed as both a cosmetic procedure, for men and women suffering from all types of hair loss, and as a medical procedure to help conceal scars, burns, birthmarks, as well as the full spectrum of alopecia strains.

Is Scalp Micropigmentation Painful?

No, most clients experience no pain to mild discomfort. The average client has expressed the pain level to be 1-2 out of 10.

Does Scalp Micropigmentation Look Real?

A typical scalp hair from a normal Caucasian male is about 77 micrometers in diameter (67 Um in those of Asian descent, and 120 Um in those of African descent). Typically, SMP dots placed in the dermis are 90 to 150 micrometers in diameter. This might seem a bit larger than real human hair, but when viewed from six inches or further away, the size is indistinguishable from real hair follicles. Often, even close family members standing one foot away (0.3 meters), cannot tell where your real hair ends and the SMP begins.

Is Scalp Micropigmentation The Same As A Tattoo

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is also known as a Hair Tattoo and has a similar process to that of a tattoo but with some key differences. The needles, machines and pigments we use are designed specifically for Scalp Micropigmentation. Traditional tattoos are placed 5 plus layers into the skin whereas our Scalp Micropigmentation procedure is placed 2 layers into the skin allowing the pigment to hold its follicle-like shape.

What Is The Cost of a Scalp Micropigmentation Procedure?

Prices are quoted on a case-by-case basis, however, you can expect to pay between $1000-$3500 USD. Prices are based on the current stage of hair loss and the treatment time required.

The first 10-15 minutes of your session will be used for paperwork; the next 15-30 minutes will be used to discuss style needs, color selection, and hairline positioning. The remaining time is used to perform the procedure and issue after-care guidelines.

How Will I Look Immediately After The Procedure?

You will see results immediately, however, you will experience a little redness to the skin that will subside within 12-48 hours.

What Is The Aftercare Procedure?

For the first 3-4 days following your treatment sessions you will be required to keep all forms of moisture away from the treatment area, this will mean avoid showering the area and also refrain from exercise. After 3-4 days you can go back to normal activities.

What Conditions Can Scalp Micropigmentation Treat?

SMP can treat the following conditions:
• Alopecia
• Male pattern baldness
• Receding hairlines
• Thinning hair
• Crown hair loss
• Head trauma. Surgical scars or scarring from burns, accident/injury, or medical condition
• Damaged scalps due to weave and extensions

The short answer is NO, since the carbon based pigment that we use does not change colors, but the final results of your procedure can look blue or green for a few different reason. The main reason for an SMP procedure looking blueish or greenish is the simply the  inexperience of an artist. The 2 main reasons of this happening is if the pigment gets deposited too deeply in the skin, or the color chosen for your procedure is too dark for your skin color, the results can come out looking like a blueish or greenish tone.
